The gvSIG Association course program for the first six-month period is now available both for users and developers from the gvSIG community as well as for everyone  interested in further training in gvSIG and free geomatics.

2011 was the implementation year of gvSIG-Training, an on-line platform created with the double purpose of contributing to the sustainability of gvSIG through the implementation of mechanisms to facilitate access to training, without geographic restrictions, to gvSIG and to other technologies involved in building spatial data infrastructures with free software.

At the same time it was defined a certification program, as requirement and guarantee of quality of official training.

While in 2011 we began offering gvSIG basic courses in Spanish and Italian, in 2012 we expand courses both under the thematic and linguistic point of view.
In addition to the new editions of the gvSIG basic courses and Advanced Geoprocessing, we are launching a series of advanced courses focusing on gvSIG technology: Geoprocessing with GGL, 3D and animation, publishing OGC services, network analysis, NavTable and tables normalization. These subjects are not grouped into a single course “advanced gvSIG” in order to allow the students to adjust their training to the specific needs or skill in which they want to move forward.

We extend the language variety, replicating courses in Spanish and Italian, and launching the first gvSIG basic course in English.

We also start with technological diversification, in addition to the above course of GGL, with the launch of the PostGIS course.

The last course added to the courses calendar, and being finalized, is one of the most requested by the community. Thus, in April 2012 we will offer, for the first time, gvSIG courses for developers.

 This calendar aims to detail only the activities for the first six months of 2012, but it doesn’t mean that we will not go further on, because we are working on the implementation of new courses broadening the technology range (map servers, catalogue servers, …) as well as the languages in which the different courses will be offered.

In 2012 we will also offer a wider training type. We will provide courses having fixed date and with a limited maximum number of students, with permanent courses with unlimited number of participants. Students can thus enrol and start a short course at any moment they want.

The following table provides an overall scheme of the scheduled courses. We hope to continue growing and meeting the needs of the training community.
