Managing pan and zoom at digitalization in gvSIG Desktop

Some users have asked about an issue when they are editing a vector layer with lines or polygons in gvSIG Desktop, and they need to continue digitalizing the geometry out of the field of vision of the screen, where currently they can’t change between the zoom tools and the geometry digitalyzing tool directly.

To solve the problem we have two options: The first option, perhaps the most comfortable, would be to click on the mouse wheel while we are digitalyzing and then move the mouse where we want, so we will move the view without leaving the digitalyzing . The second option is to roll the mouse wheel, zooming in and out so that we will move to other areas of the view.

Gestión de zoom y desplazamiento durante la digitalización en gvSIG Desktop

Algunos usuarios han preguntado sobre algún problema cuando están editando una capa vectorial de líneas o polígonos en gvSIG Desktop, y necesitan continuar digitalizando la geometría fuera del campo de visión de la pantalla, donde actualmente no se puede cambiar entre la herramienta de zoom desplazamiento y la de crear la geometría directamente.

Para solucionar dicho problema tendríamos dos opciones: La primera opción, quizás la más cómoda, sería la de pinchar sobre la rueda del ratón mientras estamos digitalizando y mover el propio ratón hacia donde deseemos, de forma que desplazaremos la Vista sin dejar la herramienta de digitalizar. La segunda opción sería la de mover la rueda del ratón, alejándonos y acercándonos de forma que nos vayamos desplazando a otras zonas de la Vista.

New Plugin available to capture coordinates

New plugin available for gvSIG Desktop 2.4 from the Add-ons Manager. It allows to capture the coordinates of a point indicated by the user, both in the view reference system … and in any other.

It also allows us to copy the point coordinates to the ‘Clipboard‘, and then paste them into other applications.

This plugin, for those who are curious about the inactive tab that appears in gvSIG, is ready for the next version of gvSIG Desktop, where it will have more functionalities… but we’ll talk about that when the time comes.

Nuevo Plugin: Capturador de coordenadas

Nuevo plugin disponible para gvSIG Desktop 2.4 desde el Administrador de complementos. Permite capturar las coordenadas de un punto indicado por el usuario, tanto en el sistema de proyección de la Vista…como en cualquier otro.

Además nos permite copiar al ‘Portapapeles’ las coordenadas del punto, pudiendo luego pegarlas en otras aplicaciones.

Este plugin, para los que tengan curiosidad por la pestaña inactiva que aparece, está preparado para la siguiente versión de gvSIG Desktop, donde tendrá más funcionalidad…pero de eso ya hablaremos cuando llegue el momento.

International Book Day: Geoportal of publications by country

On the occasion of International Book Day, in April 23, we wanted to make a geoportal with gvSIG Online that provides some visual information of the current publishing world. For those who don’t know about it, gvSIG Online is the solution of the gvSIG Association to implement Spatial Data Infrastructures and organize information with the geographical component of an organization efficiently. It also allows to make as many geoportals as we want and in a very simple way.

Taking advantage of these characteristics we have dedicated a few minutes to show you the books published per country and per year through maps. An information that we don’t usually know and that nevertheless is a very important index to take into account when evaluating the quality of life and educational level of a country.

Día Internacional del Libro: Geoportal de publicaciones por país

Con motivo del Día Internacional del Libro, este 23 de abril, hemos querido hacer un geoportal con gvSIG Online que aporte algo de información visual del mundo editorial actual. Para los que no lo conozcáis gvSIG Online es la solución de la Asociación para poner en marcha Infraestructuras de Datos Espaciales y organizar eficientemente la información con componente geográfica de una organización. Y además permite hacer geoportales, tantos como queramos y de forma muy sencilla.

Aprovechando estas características hemos dedicado unos minutos para mostraros mediante mapas los libros publicados por país y por año. Una información que no solemos conocer y que sin embargo es un índice muy importante a tener en cuenta al evaluar la calidad de vida y nivel educativo de un país. Continue reading →

Jornada Geomática de Ponferrada 2018. gvSIG: Software libre para la gestión de información geográfica

El próximo 9 de mayo tendrá lugar en el Campus de Ponferrada de la Universidad de León (España) una Jornada sobre Geomática. El tema central de la Jornada es la Información Geográfica en su sentido más amplio, e incluirá varias ponencias y talleres tanto para usuarios como para desarrolladores. Por un lado, se pretende dar a conocer, entre estudiantes de cualquier nivel formativo, qué es la información geográfica y cuáles son sus aplicaciones. Además, se pretende completar la formación de los estudiantes universitarios o profesionales que ya trabajan con información geográfica.

La Asociación gvSIG participará en el 3er Congreso Nacional de Estudiantes de Geomática, Geodesia y Geoinformática que tendrá lugar los días 16, 17 y 18 de mayo en la UAEMEX, y que tiene como objetivo reunir a estudiantes de todo el país que apliquen conocimientos y herramientas de geomática, geodesia y geoinformática en la resolución de problemáticas de carácter físico y social desde la perspectiva de la disciplina que estudian.
